The new Hyundai Tucson, only recently delivered to showrooms all over the country, can be had for just a shade under $19,000—not bad considering the stylistic upgrade and improved economy of the new Tucson. Compared to other crossover utility vehicles, a price tag of $18,995 for the basic model isn’t bad, especially considering everything you’re getting.
For one, the exterior of the vehicle got a complete overhaul. In Kansas City, used Hyundai Tucson dealers may have the old version still on the lots, but most drivers will barely recognize the new one. Its hood slopes into a sexy, curvaceous CUV, and those curves absolutely define the entire look of the vehicle. Also, the fuel economy of the new-and-improved Tucson has been upped all the way to 31mpg on the highway. That’s not only really impressive for any SUV (crossover or otherwise), but it’s also the best of any vehicle in the crossover category. That’s saying something considering the continued rise in popularity of those vehicles. Hyundai prides themselves on being at the top of the list in terms of fuel efficient car companies, and the Tucson isn’t exempt from Hyundai’s heavy efforts to better miles per gallon across the board.
A Kansas City new car dealer doesn’t just have to offer the base model, however. The GLS is the version that comes in under $19,000, but there’s also the Hyundai Tucson Limited—an upgrade that offers, among several other things, a GPS system and a sunroof. There aren’t a ton of personalization options unless you upgrade to the Limited, but there is a choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive Limited with all the fixings is going to run buyers $28,695, including $795 in freight charges.
In Kansas City, Hyundai Santa Fe crossovers are available, too, but it’s the Tucson that comes in at the sweeter price. Either vehicle falls into that hot CUV category, meaning the combination of these vehicles’ wild popularity and Hyundai’s commitment to putting out quality products in that class will result in a vehicle that flat-out gets the job done. In this particular case, the job is creating an affordable car that looks great and gets economical mileage. Mission accomplished.
